He Restoreth My Soul

Psalm 23:3Bedroom

$24.00
Eleven at night is your worst hour. The house is quiet, the phone is face down, and you are praying your way through it instead of scrolling. To the right of the bed there is a small painted map: two roads parting above a pasture, the worn one going down to still water. It is the last thing you see with the lamp on, and there is nothing in it to answer. When a friend notices it she asks where it came from, and you get to tell her. A painted map, not a sign with a verse stamped on it, in a room you keep calm on purpose.

Bedroom bible verse wall art, Psalm 23 still waters

The worn road goes down to the water

From across the room, with only the lamp on, you see the fork first. Two roads part above a pasture and one of them has been walked flat, pale against the grass, while the other keeps climbing.

Below the fork the flock is strung out along the track toward water, small and in no rush at all. That is what it gives you: something still to look at last thing, in a room where you usually lie there thinking.

One person sees only the fork, and how plainly the travelled way shows. Another follows the flock down the track to the water and stops there. Someone else finds the one lamb behind the rest, and the two marks in the grass that turned back up the slope for it. Nobody asks to have it explained, and the room stays the kind of room you meant it to be.

I keep looking at the two marks that turned back

Roads seen from above

From up here the whole valley fits in one look. The road comes over the shoulder of the hill and splits, and one of the two ways is worn pale by everyone who went down instead of on. That is where my eye stays. Not the choosing. The distance. How far the water still is from the fork.

Then I find the small one, a lamb a little behind the flock, and two marks in the grass that turned back up the slope for it. Nothing in this valley is hurrying. I hope that on the nights this map is the last thing you look at, the water being that way is enough, and the rest of the walk can wait for the light.

Bedroom scripture print gift

The one who says she wants nothing

One woman buys it for herself, in the middle of a slow bedroom refresh. Her anxiety is worst at night, and she uses the time before sleep to pray and seek peace from the Lord, so the wall she faces then matters more than the rest of the house.

The other buyer is a husband, shopping for a wife who says she truly does not want stuff, that she has everything she needs and no space for more. This one gets through, because it is a picture she can keep looking at rather than another object to dust.

It hangs on the bed wall, to the right of the larger piece above the bed head, where the lamp reaches it last.

About the psalm and the picture

1.What bible verse is good for a bedroom wall?
Most people choose something that reads well when they are tired rather than something that argues with them. Psalm 23:3, he restoreth my soul, he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness, is the line behind this piece, and it sits quietly at the end of a day. It is the verse on the wall, and the picture is a map of where those paths go.
2.What scripture helps when anxiety hits at night?
Women who pray through that hour come back to the shepherd psalm, to Elijah asleep under the broom tree, to the boat crossing to the other side. This piece holds Psalm 23, the part about being led and restored. Having it in front of you does not end a bad night, but it gives you something still to look at while you pray.
3.What does he maketh me to lie down in green pastures mean?
It comes from the opening of Psalm 23, David's shepherd psalm, a line or two before he restoreth my soul. Some read it as rest that is given rather than earned, some hear provision in it, some hear the plain fact that the sheep is not asked to find the pasture itself. We leave the reading to you and let the verse do its own work.
4.Which size suits the wall beside my bed?
The 45x60 cm framed size is the one made for a bed wall, hung to the side of a larger piece above the bed head. Go to 30x40 cm if the wall is narrow or shared with a lamp and a shelf. The 60x80 cm works when the print is on its own above a chest of drawers.
5.Is this a verse sign or an actual picture?
It is a painted map, with the verse reference as a small anchor line, not text stretched across a board. Two roads part above a pasture, a flock walks down toward water, and there are no faces in it. A guest who does not share the faith sees a landscape and asks about it, which is the point.
